Wrexham to improve benefit claim processes with Civica EDM & Workflow
Civica wins £200,000 contract to implement EDM and Workflow at Wrexham Council
26 February 2007, London – Unitary authority Wrexham County Borough Council (CBC) is introducing more efficient business processes with Electronic Document Management (EDM) and Workflow technologies from Civica plc, one of the UK’s most experienced providers of consulting, software and services for the public sector. The work has been part funded by the Department for Work & Pensions (DWP).
Over 70 staff within the Revenues and Benefits department will have access to the new processes. The paperless systems will deliver faster turnaround time on benefit claims and enable better management of information in line with the Government’s efficiency agenda.
Wrexham CBC is looking to roll out EDM and Workflow to several other service areas across the organisation, if successfully implemented in its Revenues and Benefits division.
Workflow and EDM is being integrated with Wrexham’s existing Anite Pericles Revenues & Benefits system and is expected to go live at the beginning of March.
Dave Hylands, chief information systems officer, Wrexham CBC said: “To ensure that Wrexham is on track to meet the Government’s efficiency agenda targets, it was important that we streamlined our existing Revenues and Benefits processes with a future-proof imaging and workflow system.
“Following its acquisition of Comino last year, Civica’s Workflow and EDM software was identified as the most flexible in meeting our immediate and long term needs, with the potential to roll out to other services within the organisation. The company’s extensive experience in dealing with public sector organisations further contributed to the appointment.”
The benefits of electronic document and records management and automated workflow include conversion of all types of correspondence to electronic documents without re-typing at any stage, effective online storage and fast retrieval of records in line with the Data Protection and Freedom of Information Acts. The software suite also delivers improved overall management of client contacts relating to individual benefit claims.
